All Nippon Airways (ANA) is the largest airline of Japan. Founded in 1952, the airline's mainline operations involve providing connectivity to both domestic and international destinations. ANA also takes control of several subsidiary passenger carriers, such as ANA Wings, and the budget carrier Peach Aviation, while its cargo flights operate under ANA Group. The airline operates an expansive and diverse fleet of over 200 aircraft featuring a mix of wide-body and narrow-body jets. It is the largest operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in the world, and utilizes these fuel-efficient planes as the backbone of its international and domestic long-haul networks.

Brief History
ANA was founded in 1952 as Japan Helicopter and Aeroplane Transports Company. Through an early merger with Far East Airlines, it operated the first cargo flight between Osaka and Tokyo. In those earlier days, the operation of the airline was limited to domestic flights. On March 3, 1986, ANA flagged off its first scheduled international flight operating on the Tokyo to Guam route. Over the course of time, it grew into becoming one of the best global carriers, currently holding a prestigious 5-star rating by SKYTRAX.
Ownership
All Nippon Airways is a publicly traded company owned by its parent entity, ANA Holdings Inc. Technically, the airline has no single controlling owner but has a widely diversified base of stakeholders. It is worth noting that the creation of ANA Holdings Inc. was caused by the changing landscape of the airline industry competing against emerging low-cost carriers.

All Nippon Airways: Check-in Details
The online check-in service provided by ANA allows eligible passengers to check-in for their international flights starting 24 hours before departure. During online check-in, passengers can confirm or change their seats and obtain their boarding pass before arriving at the airport. It is expected of passengers to carefully submit in advance all required travel information like passport details.
The airline makes it clear that online check-in may not be available even if travelers have registered in advance, along with other reasons like system issues. For international itineraries involving a connecting flight from a Japan domestic flight, online check-in is only available 24 hours before departure of the international flight. And this rule governs even in cases where a check-in reminder email is received 24 hours before the domestic flight. Also, seat selection for the passengers who have already made a seat reservation can be done before the flight departure, but it depends on seat availability conditions with ANA. More on this page.
All Nippon Airways: Flight reservations, changes, and refunds
ANA attempts to make it easy for travelers to book the flight tickets using its standard booking process on the official website or a third-party platform. And if you happen to be an airline's ANA Mileage Club Members, you can even register your preferences to make future reservations more convenient. The airline also provides seat assignments in advance. All you have to do is to reserve your seat at the airport on the day of your departure.
Seat selection:
Passengers can select their preferred seat using the seat map shown in the main area of the Seat Information page. Choose the correct passenger name from the names displayed if you are selecting seats for two or more passengers. If selecting seats for multiple sectors, press the button "Register and continue" to proceed to the seat selection for the next sector. An additional fee will be applied if booking seats in the flights not operated by ANA. Also, even if you have booked a flight that is sold by ANA but actually operated by a partner airline, seat selection in advance on ANA website is not possible.
Rebooking the flight:
During cancellation or delay of a flight due to weather conditions, ANA may rebook passengers on another flight. However, if the passenger wants to be rebooked to another flight due to weather, they will have to meet the airline's cited policies in this regard. To request rebooking, passengers have to contact ANA by phone or visit its official page. If the ticket was purchased through a travel agency, ANA recommends contacting the relevant agency.
Changes and refunds:
Tickets purchased through the official website of ANA may be changed/refunded via ANA website. However, changes to tickets are possible only when applicable on such tickets. Some fare rules may rule out reservation changes, or may involve a reservation change fee. The airline will confirm your details before processing your reservation changes and notify you of any applicable new fares or fare differences. In any circumstance associated with reservation change, ANA advises passengers to contact its customer service representative or international airport counter.
Refunds:
Eligible refunds are applicable on the international tickets starting with 205 and EMD numbers starting with 205 issued by ANA. If not, contact the relevant carrier. In addition, refunds will be made in the local currency. Refunds made outside Japan will be made in check, but depending on the currency used for payment, a refund may not be possible outside the country of purchase due to currency restrictions. Requests for a refund can be made within 1 year and 30 days from your original purchase date. Also to be noted here is the rule governing that some tickets and EMDs have fare restrictions limiting the refundable value and require a cancellation fee to be deducted. More details on this page.
ANA loyalty programs
ANA offers one primary loyalty program called ANA Mileage Club, offering different service tiers, status levels, and related club structures. Members of this program can benefit from exclusive discounts and offers at participating ANA partner shops, restaurants, spas and more.
